Who was Nostradamus?

When it comes to prophesising the future, no one does it quite like Nostradamus. This French physician-turned-seer has captured the imaginations of millions the world over, thanks to his seemingly accurate predictions of future events.

Born in 1503 in Saint-Rรฉmy-de-Provence, Nostradamus became known for his prophecies in the mid-16th century, which were collected into a book known as โ€œLes Prophรฉtiesโ€. He claimed to have received visions of the future from an angel, which he then interpreted through a combination of astrology and other occult practices.

While many sceptics dismiss his predictions as nothing more than pure coincidence, there are those who remain convinced of Nostradamusโ€™s supernatural abilities.

So what does he foresee in the future? The answer to this question depends on whom you ask.

Some people believe that Nostradamus predicted a world war, while others interpret his writings to mean a period of great spiritual upheaval or even a complete shift in the balance of power between nations.

While itโ€™s impossible to know for sure what the future holds, one thing is clear: Nostradamusโ€™s prophecies will continue to fascinate and perplex people for centuries to come.

Historical accuracy of predictions.

When it comes to predictions about the future, few figures are as widely known and mysterious as Nostradamus. The French astrologer, physician, and writer, who lived from 1503 to 1566, is renowned for his supposed prophetic abilities, having penned a book of predictions that has fascinated and intrigued people for centuries.

However, while some believe he accurately foresaw historical events, others are highly sceptical, pointing to vague language and the fact that many of his more specific prophecies have not come to pass.

Some of his upcoming future predictions, like politics becoming more transparent, and an increase in natural disasters, seem like they could be plausible. Others, like a new religion forming and a cure for cancer being discovered, are more difficult to envision.

But regardless of the accuracy of his specific prophecies, the enduring fascination with Nostradamus speaks to our enduring desire to know what the future holds. And perhaps, in a world full of uncertainty, thatโ€™s enough.

Skeptics and their criticisms.

The French astrologer famously published collections of quatrains, cryptic four-line predictions that are said to foretell everything from natural disasters to political upheaval.

Some have claimed that he accurately predicted events like the French Revolution, World War II, the rise of Hitler, 9/11 and many more.

Were his predictions simply the product of his vivid imagination, the fortunate guesses of a man who lived in tumultuous times?

Thereโ€™s something undeniably fascinating about the predictions of Nostradamus. Even if youโ€™re not a believer in the supernatural or the prophetic, itโ€™s hard not to be intrigued by the idea that one man could see so far into the future.

Of course, sceptics abound, and theyโ€™re often quick to point out the flaws in Nostradamusโ€™ predictions. One thoery is that his prophecies were written in a deliberately vague and cryptic style, making them difficult to understand and open to multiple interpretations.

While others argue they were the result of his use of astrology and his knowledge of historical events to make educated guesses.

Others suggest that he was making educated guesses based on the political and social climate of his time. And then there are those who believe that he was a fraud, simply playing on peopleโ€™s fears and superstitions to gain fame and fortune.

NOSTRADAMUS: WHICH OF HIS PREDICTIONS CAME TRUE?

Letโ€™s start by talking about his book, Les Propheties, published in the 16th century. Itโ€™s a book that has intrigued people since it was published, and his visions have often been cited as the most accurate of all time.

1 THE DEATH OF HENRY II

II of France, to whom Nostradamus addressed as โ€œThe most invincible Henry King of France,โ€ certainly did not turn out to be so indestructible. At the young age of 40, he experienced an agonising end to his life due to his love for sports and hunting. Henry hosted a tournament that proved fatal; while jousting with one comrade, a clashing of lances caused them to break into pieces, and shards flew everywhere โ€“ one piece striking the king directly in the eye and skull, which sadly led him to death bed shortly thereafter.

Nostradamus is believed to have predicted the agonizing death of Henry II with a quatrain that reads: โ€˜the young lion will overcome the older one. He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage, two wounds in one, then cruel deathโ€™. Itโ€™s uncanny how much detail he foresaw! However, there are critics who point out that this quatrain also states the killing takes place on a field of combat during only one battle โ€“ not like Henry II was accidentally killed while jousting for fun.

The Great Fire of London

It is worth quoting the alleged Great Fire of London quatrain in full, as it is one of the most mysterious prophecies of all.

โ€˜The blood of the just will commit a fault at London,
Burnt through lightning of twenty threes the six:

The ancient lady will fall from her high place
Several of the same sect will be killed.โ€™

The phrase, โ€œtwenty threes the sixโ€, interpreted as 66 (20 x 3 + 6), alongside references to London and deaths has led some to believe this is an omen for The Great Fire of London in 1666. As per usual with Nostradamusโ€™s predictions, there are still mysteries left unsolved; was it really caused by lightning or a baking fire? Who could the โ€˜ancient ladyโ€™ be referring too? Is it actually representing London itself? This prophecy remains one that continues to perplex us all โ€“ even compared to other prophecies made by Nostradamus himself.

The rise of Adolf Hitler

People oftentimes attribute Nostradamus with his prophey regarding the emergence of Adolf Hitler. When you read his words, they can give a slight feeling of uneasiness that cannot be ignored.

โ€˜From the depths of the West of Europe,โ€™ Nostradamus wrote, โ€˜A young child will be born of poor peopleโ€™. And what does this child do? He will โ€˜by his tongueโ€ฆ seduce a great troopโ€™, and his fame will spread far beyond Europe. Another quatrain of possible significance mentions fighting โ€˜close by the Histerโ€™ Whether youโ€™re looking at it through the lens of history or modern geography, โ€œDonauโ€ can refer to either Hitler or the old name for the Danube river.

Hiroshima

On August 6 and 9, 1945, the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were completely devastated by atomic bombs during World War Two, in a manner that can only be described as catastrophic.

The Quatrain reads:

Within two cities,โ€™ Nostradamus wrote, โ€˜there will be scourges the like of which was never seenโ€

Nostradamusโ€™ quatrain paints a grim picture, predicting โ€˜famine within plague,โ€™ which might indicate radiation sickness as an aftermath of war and the destruction caused by bombs. On another note, this may have simply been referring to any potential cities being affected by a literal plague โ€“ something that Nostradamus had firsthand knowledge of treating in his medical practice. Ultimately, it all depends on how much you are willing to believe.

9/11 Attack

Quatrain prediction:

โ€œEarthshaking fire from the center of the Earth
Will cause tremors around the New City.
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
Then Arethusa will redden a new river.โ€

As we know, on the fateful morning of September 11, 2001, the Twin Towers in New York Cityโ€™s World Trade Center were brutally attacked. No one expected it to happen, and the whole world was left in shock. The attack orchestrated by terrorists killed thousands of people and changed the course of history forever. The impact of that day was felt not just in America but around the world. It brought with it a heightened sense of awareness about terrorism and security concerns, leading to new leading to new policies and initiatives to protect the safety of citizens. The memory of 9/11 still lingers in our minds, reminding us of the importance of vigilance and being prepared for any unknown danger.

Nostradamus referred to many other events in his writings, including cataclysms, natural disasters, and great changes. He also referred to significant geopolitical events such as the rise of Russia as a superpower, the tensions between the USA and Iran, and the conflict in the Korean Peninsula.

Reading his predictions, one cannot help but wonder whether the future predictions by Nostradamus are already unfolding before our eyes.

Interpretation of the prophecies.

As I write this we are one quater into 2023 and as we approach the year 2024, me and many other Nostradamus fans are curious about what Nostradamusโ€™ predicts for 2024 and 2025 onwards.

According to his writings, 2025 is set to be a year of significant change and upheaval.

Nostradamusโ€™ predictions suggest that there will be a shift in power dynamics on the global stage, with new players emerging and old powers falling. He also suggests that there will be major environmental disasters, such as droughts, floods, and earthquakes, which will have a profound impact on the world as we know it.

Nostradamusโ€™s prediction about World War III

Nostradamus wrote a number of prophecies that many believe predicts World War III.

In particular, one of the Quatrains reads: โ€œfire from the skyโ€ and โ€œgreat and powerful warโ€ that will signal the end of an era. Whilst another quatrain refers to a third world war with โ€œnuclear fireโ€ consuming cities.

These predictions appear to be eerily accurate when viewed in light of modern events, leading many people to ponder about the dark possibilities that await us in the future.

Is there a time frame for the predictions?

This is one of the questions that repeatedly comes up when researching the famous seer.

While Nostradamusโ€™ predictions have gained notoriety for their eerie accuracy over the centuries, sceptics argue that many of his prophecies are open to interpretation and can be applied to a variety of situations.

Lets look at the Great Fire Of London quatrain excerpt:

โ€œThe blood of the just will commit a fault at London,

Burnt through lighting of twenty threes the six:

The ancient lady will fall from her high place,

|Several of the same sect will be killed.โ€

Maybe you never heard of the Great London Fire of 1666, well the part where he says โ€œtwenty threes the sixโ€ is suppose to be part of the giveaway. As mentioned above, his quatrains were very cryptic. He didnโ€™t just make. alist of dates, he used symbolism and cryptic messages to communicate it to the reader.

Theories about about how Nostradamus obtained his predictions

Nostradamus and the Bible.

One theory is that Nostradamus was heavily influenced by the Bible, drawing on the prophetic visions of figures such as Daniel and Ezekiel. In some of his most famous quatrains, Nostradamus references biblical figures and events, such as the โ€œgreat king of terrorโ€ who will come from the sky, a possible allusion to the Book of Revelation.

However, others argue that Nostradamus was simply a skilled observer of his own time, able to predict trends and patterns in human behaviour. Some dismiss them as mere coincidences or flukes of interpretation.

Ultimately, the appeal of Nostradamus lies not in his accuracy but in the enduring fascination people have with the unknown and the mysterious.

The role of astrology in Nostradamus predictions.

The art of astrology has been around for centuries, and it is often considered one of the most reliable sources for predictions about the future. While many people may scoff at the idea and argue that astrology is a pseudoscience and making predictions based on the position of planets isnโ€™t a proven scientific method, this simply isnโ€™t true.

The positions of the planets and stars have a real, measurable impact on our lives, and by understanding their movements and patterns, we can better prepare ourselves for what may come. Whether you believe in astrology or not, itโ€™s hard to deny the fascination that surrounds it.

Could Nostradamus have infact been a prophet?

Some view him as a prophet with the ability to predict the future, his predictions certainly seem remarkable in their accuracy, covering topics ranging from world wars to natural disasters. However, it is difficult to assess how accurate his predictions were, since Nostradamus wrote in a very cryptic manner.

So What does the future hold?

People are curious, perplexed and even frightened by what the French prophet had to say about the future.

From his prediction about a great war, to his foresight about technological advancements, Nostradamusโ€™ words have left us on the edge of our seats.

The key upcoming quatrain exerpts and predictions include:

High food prices will lead to cannibalism

โ€œSo high the price of wheat, that man is stirred, his fellow man to eat in his despair.โ€

A โ€˜great warโ€™ lasting several months

โ€œSeven months great war, people dead through evil.โ€

A mysterious disaster on Mars

โ€œcelestial fire when the lights of Mars will go outโ€.

Countries plagued by droughts and flooding

dry earth will grow more parched, and there will be great floods when the rainbow is seen.โ€

The rise of China, the new global super power
